Well the day after the 4th of July. Fireworks are still going off. People walking around my town drunk. And a lot of people on the water. So Marissa and I thought we would go and fish The Devil Stream to see if we could get some of those "Demon" fish.
We went down the field and came to the secret spot where you enter into the stream. I had on a fly like usual and Marissa tried dunking worms. We thought if everyone else was catching them on worms she could get a fish or two and I'm going to try to use a dry fly.
Well not even 10 minutes in Marissa yells to me "FISH ON!" I couldn't believe it. She actually caught one of those "Demon" fish. I dropped my rod and ran over to see what she caught. At first she said it was a nice trout. But as she pulled it out of the water it turned out to be a nice carp. This was the second carp of the year, and the second carp she has ever caught in her life. I was so proud of her for catching a fish out of The Devil Stream.
I was fishing dry flies and I was getting hits, but the trout weren't taking the fly they were just hitting it then leaving. I changed dry flies about 5 times and nothing would latch on. Finally Marissa came over by me and sure enough she had another "FISH ON!" She had caught a small rock bass. I was surprised she had caught one in this tiny stream, but anything could happen at The Devil Stream. After hours of me fishing I had two nice trout surrounding my fly but they must have not wanted it. So we packed up and headed back into town to watch some more fireworks.
So this evening she scratched something off her list. To catch a fish (or two) out of The Devil Stream. And me on the other hand, even thought I didn't catch a fish, I was happy for her to catch some of the hardest fish I've ever tried to catch. So I'm going to try to use some San Juan Worms to see if I can catch one of those "Demon" fish out of The Devil Stream.
