Local Fly Shops

Local fly shops to me are one of the best things for fly fisherman. If your new to the area or a local just going to hang out and talk the local fly shops are to the place to go. Fly shops help with everything from tying materials to what hatch is going on there the place to be. I have to favorite local fly shops I love to go to. Unkel Joe's Woodshed and Kinney's Country Store and Fly Shop. I get everything there for fly fishing and bass fishing.  

Now don't let the name fool you Unkel Joe's Woodshed in Lock Haven, Pa isn't a wood shop like I thought a couple years back it's a honey hole for fly fishermen. One of the guys I fish with told me about this shop so I thought I would go down and take a look at it. It was one of the best places I've ever been to. Unlike Gander Mountain or Bass Pro Shops the customer service was great. The guys that work there are so knowledgeable about the hatch that's going on and also what kind of flies to tie. I go there every time I need some material to tie flies or just need to talk to someone about fly fishing.

Another great fly shop I just found about last week was Kinney's Country Store and Fly Shop. The people are so friendly there it's crazy. They don't have as big of a selection as Unkel Joe's but they do have some nice stuff. They are right outside Kettle Creek, PA . they have enough stuff that if you forget something like your nippers or just need a couple flies to hold you by they have a great selection. 

Local fly shops are one of my favorite stores to go to for all my fishing supplies. Don't get me wrong I like to shop on Orvis online from time to time but I like to talk to the people in the store (I'm a peoples person) and I like to see what the things I'm buying look like up close in person before I buy it. Also most fly shops I've been to have some great FREE books you can read when your at camp or just want something to read. Also I love to give my local businesses my support. So go out to your local fly shop or just find one and start talking with the people get to know the guys behind the counter they can be very helpful when it come to fly fishing or any kind of fishing for that matter. And if your ever in Clinton County PA give Unkel Joe's Woodshed and Kinney's Country Store and Fly Shop a visit and support your local fly shops.
