Tons of people don't just fish in one stream or one river. Everyone wants to try another stream or two and see how that one compares to the next. But unless you have a photographic memory and can remember every little detail of that fishing trip your going to need a little help. So a great system to help you remember where, when, and how you caught that fish. Using a little notepad (a waterproof notepad would be the best bet) can help you keep track of everything to the weather of that day all the way to the fly.
First to start your data system next time you go onto the water write the name of the stream or river and whatever spot you are or were at. To make it even easier dedicate a couple pages to just one stream or river.
Next you want to write down the date and if your doing this right after you catch the fish (probably not) right down the exact time you caught it, Or if you can't remember write down the period of the day such as morning, afternoon, evening or night. So writing down the month, day, and if possible the time of day; will help you when you come back to that exact spot.
Lastly write down the fly that you used to catch that fish. This will help you select your fly a lot faster when on the water instead of wasting your time with trying to find the right fly you can use the fly you wrote down in your "Data Keeper".
So next time your on the water try using this system to help you catch fish faster and to make it easier to remember when, where, and how you caught that nice trout.
